Temporal Coordinates is a meditation on the effects of time and placement of materials on canvas. I was interested in the way that surface tension and differences in density affect the flow of paint on a surface. As the series developed, I incorporated a palette knife and pasteur pipette as mark-making tools to extend the language being explored in these pieces. The resulting nine canvases were installed as a single piece in a show at the Martin Batchelor Gallery in 2003.
